The C-Max is a compact Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) produced by Ford since 2003; it is the smallest MPV in their line up amongst the S Max and Galaxy.
The 1st generation C-Max was based on Ford's C1 platform which was also used by the 2nd generation Focus hence the C-Max was referred to as the Focus C-Max. It also shares the control blade independent rear suspension from the Focus.
The unique point of the C-Max is that it is only one of a few compact MPVs that can comfortably seat 5 adults and have ample rear load space; with the rear seats flattened down the C-Max can compete with a small van for load area.
The Ford C-Max in London is available with 6 engines choices, 3 petrol and 3 diesels. The petrol range consists of a 99bhp 1.6 litre, a 123bhp 1.9 litre and a 143bhp 2.0 litre. All petrol variants come with a 5 speed manual, the 2.0 litre is available with an optional automatic.
In the diesel engine range you the 108bhp 1.6TDCi, the 114bhp 1.8 litre and the 134bhp 2.0 litre, like the petrol all diesel variants come with a 5 speed manual gearbox and the 2.0 litre has the option of an auto gearbox.
Many have said that with the C-Max Ford has hit the perfect balance between a soft and firm ride, it is sure footed and finds plenty of grip. The C-Max is sharp and very responsive when asked to turn into a corner, once into the corner there is very little body roll and there is not much fuss in straightening out.
The ride is comfortable on the motorways as well as in and around town; the engines are ultra quiet, even the diesel engines. Wind noise is kept out of the cabin but some road noise does slip in but not intrusive enough to cause too much distress.
