Allstate And Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel Dedicate New Soccer Field At Humboldt Park

The 207-acre Allstate Field is made of FieldTurf premium artificial turf

, which features all-weather surfacing that provides usability for at least nine months a year. The new field also includes a new lighting system, which will increase playing and programming time at the park.

"Allstate is committed to improving Chicago's neighborhoods. Allstate Field at Humboldt Parkrepresents a new level of partnership with the Chicago Park District. The vision and leadership of Mayor Emanuel and Park District President Traubert inspired us to raise our investment in Chicago beyond the ten playgrounds we built over the past few years," said Tom Wilson, Allstate president, chairman and chief executive officer. "The field will be a place where the community can come together and a symbol of the private and public sectors working together to improve our hometown."

The insurer helped build the new regulation-size soccer field as part of the "Take the Field" initiative, which joined public and private resources to build 10 public athletic fields throughout the City of Chicago. Allstate and the Pritzker Traubert Foundation provided a combined $1 million in funding for the field.

"I'd like to thank Allstate for helping us to create this outstanding facility and for its longtime support of the City's park programs and neighborhoods," said Mayor Emanuel. "Allstate Field will be used by area youth athletic programs, schools and adult soccer leagues and enjoyed by Humboldt neighborhood residents for years to come."

Also in attendance at the dedication were Interim Chicago Park District Superintendent Mike Kelly, Chicago Park District Board President Bryan Traubert, and members of the Urban Initiative's youth soccer program.
