Amazing Performance

Last night my girlfriend convinced me to go to the local comedy club in Seattle

. I was reluctant because many times before friends had convinced me to go to the comedy club and the comics flat out sucked. Trust me, I am not one of those Donny Downers that hates comedy. I love comedy! I follow many famous comedians, it's just every time I have gone to the comedy club to see someone I have never heard of, I had always left disappointed; except for last night.

Last night the headliner was The Matt Baker Comedy + Stunt Show. I had never heard of him, and neither had my girlfriend. She read his bio in the paper and said he sounded interesting. She showed me the article and his show did sound pretty intriguing. He had been on America's Got Talent, Last Comic Standing and is a Guinness World Record Holder. Trying to keep an open mind, I agreed to go. After only 20 minutes at the club, the night was shaping up to be another stinker. Every comic that was opening was terrible. After 40 minutes of silence and awkwardness, Matt Baker took the stage. I had never seen a performer transform the mood in the room so quickly and so genuinely. He took a completely dead audience and converted them to a non-stop laughing machine. Every one of his jokes was clever, witty, creative and most importantly FUNNY! Not only did he do straight stand-up, he even did crazy stunts I had never even seen before. He caught a horse with his face, juggled with his mouth, and did a stunt with garden weasels that kept my girlfriend talking about him all night. When his 50 minutes were over, the audience could not get enough and forced him to do an encore which he happily did for 20 more minutes...

What a relief to finally go to a club to see a performer I had never heard of, and be impressed. To see a young, hip comedian, doing things no other comedians are doing was such a cool thing to watch. The Matt Baker Comedy + Stunt Show is a must see. I am glad my girlfriend convinced me to go, because now I can say I saw Matt Baker before he was famous.
