An Explanation Of Paintball Markers And Other Equipment
A prominent historical event that brought on the birth of recreational paintball
is when a dozen friends just decided to form a "capture-the-flag" team game format using these tree-marking guns. Later, these players put in an order for additional paintball markers and started promoting their product for public use as a recreational game. Finally, a year later, in 1982, the very first paintball field was opened in Rochester, NY.
People can play this game for recreation or competitively. Another format of this extreme sport is the scenario game where the paintball field that is hosting the event uses a plot line from a fictional movie with the good guys and the bad guys split up into teams and given missions, goals, and objectives. The competitors role play to achieve the final goals, and the team that completes its mission first wins.
Competitive paintball can be very intense, usually consisting of a speedball course, which is a smaller course set-up with placement of barricades. It is more of a rapid team elimination match and is sometimes televised. Whichever team eliminates the other team first wins that round and then moves forward in the competition.
There are different types of paintball accessories and other pieces of equipment that can help out in the field. For instance, typical basic paintball guns have the CO2 tank in the stock. This can be cumbersome and can get in the way when participating in intense gameplay. That being said, there's a piece that can be added to marker called a "drop forward." This device is attached to the bottom of the grip, and can actually bring the CO2 tank forward, keeping it out of the way and providing a better means of aiming.
There is also the option to modify the gun with a longer barrel which can allow for farther and more accurate shots. Shorter barrels typically causes the ammo to curve sooner than they should, while longer barrels allow for the ball to carry even a further distance before it loses its accuracy.
Another very important piece of equipment would be goggles. They should be worn at all times on the field and should not be taken off until the player exits the field into the staging area.
