Bringing happiness in the lives of people was also something which was considered as arrogance. This is mainly due to the reason of interfering with the works of divine.

Giving happiness to a person who does not deserve it due to his actions was considered as an act of cutting his hardship period which would have helped him repent. So in all its sense these spells and magic were something which had to be hidden.

For these reasons the Wiccan book of shadows came into existence where the spells are written in a heavily coded language, which was only understood by the witches and wizards.
