There are many extracurricular forms of education today. They are effective in two ways: providing supplementary education to students needing a boost on their learning plan and to learn something completely and absolutely new, which can open up doors to other careers and professions. The ability to tutor requires no formalized education only knowledge and hands-on with whatever it is you want to tutor. Tutoring has been around since the beginning of time. No "formal" education was in place until the early 19th century.
People have a lot of trepidation in regards to tutoring there's a negative connotation to it. It shouldn't be that way. People learn in different ways. Not one person learns the same things or have the same interests as the other person. Some students accelerate the process of education quicker than others. Education as a whole is a large umbrella that hovers over approximately 90 percent of the population, regardless of their lot in life.
With No Child Left Behind and other educational reform set forth by the powers that be, the need for educators is at an all-time high. Schools are extending their school hours and days while others are putting more rigorous teaching toward certain subjects. Once teachers finish out their day, they're done. Once you finish your work day, you're done but that doesn't give people a right to be free of responsibility of educating other people.
If you have an opportunity, be sure to take advantage of it. It's always fun educating people in something new or something old, for that matter.
