In fact, the Jangil and majority of the Great Andamanese group are already extinct. Only an approximate population of 450 is remaining in the present times. Of the indigenous tribes of the Nicobars, the Nicobarese, or Nicobari and the Shompen, the Nicobari can be found all over the island group, while the Shompen are more or less concentrated along the hinterland of Great Nicobar.
