Anger is one of the most primal and complex feelings in the range of human emotions. Anger alerts us to a problem, focuses our attention, and gives us energy. Although it is neither good nor bad, its misuse causes a great deal of suffering. Now, anger management is about understanding your anger and why it happens. It is about learning and practising better ways of expressing anger, and knowing how to prevent it from occurring in the first place. Anger management involves knowing the triggers and early warning signs of anger, and learning techniques to calm down and manage the situation before it gets out of control. Number one: Sit down and think of five things that make you angry. These are anger triggers and they can range from small annoyances to volcanic events. You can write these things down on a list to remember them or just think of them in your head. For instance, an anger trigger may be a finger-drumming acquaintance, or a driver who cuts you off in traffic. Rate the five triggers from one to five as to how much they irritate you.

Number two: Do the anger poetry exercise. What you have to do is to enrol the right brain and deeper emotional parts of the brain to become more conscious and aware of anger when it is brewing. This will help you begin managing you anger better and have an easier time maintaining calm behavior overall.

Number three: Practice breathing techniques. It may be helpful to join a meditation or yoga class. By practicing deep and rhythmic breathing and learning relaxation techniques, you will be able to calm yourself down whenever you feel anger coming on.
