Animals For An Exhibition By Six Artists
There are six local artists and they will demonstrate their individual approaches
to animal painting in a program that a museum is holding in conjunction with its animal friends exhibit. What each artist needs to do is create an animal theme painting in the museum galleries and then tell the visitors about how their style and techniques are able to capture the image and spirit of the animals they painted. Considering people of various cultures and backgrounds, the executive director of a museum said that animals finds special meaning in them.
For example, the buffalo is a spiritual symbol while the dove is a sign of peace. Usually, a red tailed hawk can be a good omen while cherished friends are symbolized by dogs. Remaining as favorites all over the world are animals considering how they have been the subjects of artistic endeavor since the beginning of time from petroglyphs to cave murals to oil paintings to jewelry.
What this female artist calls herself is an avid explorer of styles, techniques, and ideas. Her methods have been developed over a long career of teaching, consulting and in workshop presentations and publications. Not only is she listed in the west's who's who but is also a founding member of a local society of watercolorists.
Originally from southern California was another female artist and she took up art and watercolor before moving to her hometown in 1983. When it comes to the themes she was working with, these involve landscapes and floral studies plus people and animal portraits. When it comes to her style, the director attributes this to her aggressive use of pigment as well as her ability to push the watercolor medium into works of unusual size without sacrificing the brilliance of transparent watercolor.
For the other artist, he studied at the art center of college of design in Los Angeles and another famous college. When he was in Chicago he was a graphic designer but he has exhibited nationally including the national watercolor exhibition in environment. Aside from creating presentations and publications in Springfield, Illinois each of the artists will also be making them in local and regional venues.
There was a period of study at the University of California in Los Angeles for the fourth artist following a graduation with high honors from New York's school of art. What she received at Washington school of art's 12th annual competition was an award for the best of show. Her work according to a reviewer is able to give a precious glimpse of human drama for it is full of psychological poignancy as parts of a famous director's film.
For the fifth artist, her painting degree was earned from Kansas university school of fine arts. When she works, she paints in her own interpretive style of realism and this gives the viewer a feeling of the subject's mood as well as the atmosphere. Apart from participating in the Kansas landscape which is a traveling exhibition shown at the Smithsonian institution in Washington, DC, she has also held a number of one person shows and has participated in juried exhibitions too.
For eight years, the sixth artist studied Chinese brush painting with a noted Chinese painter and this led to the culmination of her study of art and refinement of painting skills. Considering this style of painting, lifted or erased during creation, she adapted it to the northern New Mexican environment. What the director of the museum reiterated was their commitment to artists and designers working showing up and stated that they are honored to welcome these distinguished artists from the society of watercolorists to the museum.
For the enjoyment of audiences both young and old is the current animal friends exhibition which has been specially selected. This will be a workshop visitors will enjoy as the artists create portraits of their own special animal friends. Founded in 1992 was the society of watercolorists and it has a mission to encourage the local and national production as well as appreciation of professional quality watercolors.
