Applying For A Band Scholarship For College

You are fresh out of high school and after falling in love with marching band in high school

, you begin to wonder can I take this any farther? The answer is yes. There are a lot of colleges in the Unites States who provide full ride scholarships to individuals who want to play in the marching band. Now all you need are the details on how to achieve this.

To begin, ask yourself how dedicated are you? While performing in high school were you passionate and serious about a possible, bigger opportunity? If so then keep it that way. Colleges want to see that you were committed to your band and that you will be serious in your after high school years, as well.

Enthusiasm and passion are important parts of getting a scholarship. Show your love for music and why you think that being in a band is good for the school spirit. Think about ways that music has uplifted you when you were down and mention this in your application.

The next important step is dont base your scholarship wants on your college choices. Look at the colleges of your choice and research to see if they have any programs for bands at their school. You may be surprised to find that the school youve been dreaming to go to offers a scholarship made just for you. The USA has schools that do offer a band scholar ship including Marshall University in Huntington, WV, Purdue University in Indiana, and Stanford University in Stanford, CA.

Finally, at your audition for the scholarship make sure you know your piece and that youre full of enthusiasm. The judges/professors want to see that you are a hard worker and have practiced your piece well. They also want to see a spark behind your eyes letting them know how much you enjoy playing your instrument. Together, a spark and practice should put you through to having a good chance for that scholarship.

Now you know that it is possible to achieve a scholarship full-ride to a college of your choice through band, go out there and make your dreams, a reality.

If you dont qualify, continue to look for other scholarships including those from musicians that may want to sponsor someone at school. You should never lose your love for music as it lifts the spirit and gives hope to so many people.
