Aquaponics Uses Natural Process In Feeding Fishes

Aquaponics is defined as another way of organic gardening

It also involves growing of various kinds of fishes and at the same time growing of soilless plants under one ecosystem where both of the plants and fishes are having benefit from each other, in addition to that, the aquaponics the only thing that is added to its process is the food for the fish. Then as this process goes on, the fishes are eating its wastes to fertilize the plants. The plants in return will get rid of the water's harmful compound which is nitrate and other chemicals which are coming from the fish. These said chemicals are helping the plants to really grow that strong, when the plants are filtering the harmful chemicals, it will also help the fishes to stay healthy. The aquaponics are being taught solely by Mother Nature, it is a perfect example of how natural aquaponics is being done. As the fishes grow bigger, they also need a high maintenance of quality feeds. Many aquaponics growers now are using home grown feeds for them to save both money and effort. These home grown feeds can be really personally satisfying, and will also decrease the environmental wastes by closing the entire input loop. First is the duckweed, they are really fast growing aquatic plant and can double their masses every day, especially if they love the environment. Duckweed also contains 405 of the proteins as compared to the soybeans; they are perfect in removing all types of contaminants and efficiently add oxygen into the water. Duckweeds grow perfectly in dappled sunlight together with stagnant water and fish wastes. You must keep in mind that you should separate duckweeds from the fishes, because if not fishes will eat all of the duckweeds. Next best source of feeds are the worms, such as the sludge worms, earthworms, composting red worms and bloodworms. All of these worms can really produce excellent fish foods. You must be able to grow more of them so that you can feed all of your fishes.

Next on the list is the black soldier fly larvae, they are mostly found on North America and United States. They are very active starting from April to November of the year. Their grubs are known to be much beneficial in nature. It helps in digesting and recycles decomposing organic material such as the carrion manure, decaying plant waste and fruits. The manure of these flies have short lifespan only ranging for up to 5-8 days, the female can lay their eggs for up to 900 eggs. These eggs will hatch just in 100 hours and if their condition is perfectly right then they will mature in just 2-4 weeks. During this said stage, the larvae will make an excellent fish food, as well as a good source of robust compost consumers.
