Are You Having A Panic Attack?
It's a beautiful summer day
It's a beautiful summer day. You are outside in the yard minding your own business when suddenly you heart begins to race, your pulse goes up. Immediately you begin to sweat, and you begin to think, my God, am I having a heart attack?
While many agree, these are actually the symptoms of a panic attack disorder. Although some times mistaken for a heart attack, panic attacks or anxiety attacks happen more often then we can imagine. Be it a 20 year old man or 50 year old women, panic attacks are not specific to any gender or age for that matter.
At times, it appears that a stressful situation set them off, but often enough, they can happen with no recourse and no warning. At times, just driving over a bridge is all it take to set one off.
At times, these attacks can cause you to become dizzy, or even stem from a dizzy spell causing you to partially lose control and begin to panic. A feeling of tightness will begin in your chest and sometimes your throat. It gives you the feeling that someone is standing on your chest.
Temperature change to your body is also a good example of a panic attack setting in. A hot flash is often foowed up by extreme tenseness and lots of anxiety. Sensations of a tingle to parts of your body develop and a racing heart is close to follow.
As most of us have stress in our lives, excessive amounts of these are a perfect trigger for a panic attack. This is why lately, panic attacks are on the rise, with a possible cause being a faulty economy. And as one becomes stressed and panic stricken, so may others who are associated with these people (spouse,children,co-workers)
Having a feeling that your normal everyday routines are not a part of you is also another sign of an anxiety attack. You don't feel as if you are participating with life and the surroundings. Unfortunately, large amounts of anxiety have been known to bring upon thoughts of depression and even severe cases suicide.
There are things you can do to fight off these feelings and allow you to resume a normal life. There is no need to wake up every morning and fear the day when nothing has even happened yet. Stop losing sleep today and look into the possibilities of a better life.
