Are You Randy Moss Or Wes Welker When It Comes To Your Finances?

Being a New England Patriots fan, I couldn't resist a blog post talking about Randy Moss and Wes Welker

. How do I tie it into finances? Easy, let's talk motivation...

What motivates you to succeed financially? Is it:

* Your relationship with God?

* Your family?

* Your desire to help more people?

* Your desire to have more stuff?

Is your motivation strong or weak? Do you give up easily or fight hard for your goals? Randy Moss, a superstar athlete who makes playing in the NFL look easy when he wants to play. Notice I say "wants to play". The key to beating Randy Moss is get him off his game and he takes himself out of the game. A hard hit here, a hard hit there, just frustrate him and he is contained... Randy is known for going through the motions, taking a play or two off, and running "lazy" routes. In other words: He gives up easily!

An opponent recently said this about Randy, "I know everyone who plays against him; they can sense that. Once you get into him in the beginning of the game, he shuts it down a little bit." He is often labeled a "quitter". When he doesn't get his own way, he just gives up. This past Sunday against Carolina was proof: Only 1 catch and the one he caught, he fumbled. His head was in no way "in the game".

Wes Welker, on the other hand: This guy will get drilled time and time again. He should be pictured in the dictionary under the word "toughness". I have never seen such a hard working, backyard football kind of guy. He will get clobbered and I mean clobbered for 1 lousy yard. Shot after shot, he keeps getting up and asking for more! He is easily Tom Brady's favorite target (over 300 catches the past 3 years alone). He is the trusty go-to-guy when the Patriots need tough yards. Wes is quick, steady, and most of all tough physically and mentally. I swear he must be the sorest guy in America on Monday mornings. Watch one Patriots game and you will quickly become a Wes fan (love or hate the Patriots, no one can deny his "no holds barred" work ethic).

Now here's my point. Though Randy Moss makes the big-time highlight reel plays and gets into the end zone more often than Welker, Wes is easily the Patriot's MVP. Moss is inconsistent and gives up easily. Wes is the dependable, "always fighting" warrior. Which player most resembles your financial motivation?

Are you the Randy Moss of finances: a quick score here and there but for the most part you give up when things don't go your way? You lose jobs, take on too much debt, have trouble saving and investing. You are inconsistent.

Or are you like Wes Welker, willing to fight no matter what the financial scoreboard reads. One more yard, press on, let's fight! Your attitude is everything! When you place God at the center of your life, have the burning desire to succeed, and will stop at nothing to reach your goals, you become like one of God's MVPs. Trust me; he will use you when you are willing to become one of His warriors! How bad do you want it?
