? If you read my previous article entitled, can the lottery be manipulated, then the answer would have to be, yes! Every week, thousands upon thousands of lottery players take the same numbers, for the fear of loosing, should those numbers ever be drawn. The lottery operators rely on you thinking this way, its human nature. If the lottery draws are being manipulated then, this plays into their hands, as does, using the lucky dip option. Ill explain why.

Obviously, when you have a lottery as popular as the UK national lottery, the New York state lottery, the Spanish lottery etc, the amount of players that play each lottery runs into the millions. How many of those players take the same numbers each draw and, how many of those players have probably taken a set of numbers, that many thousands of other players have taken. You dont need to be an Einstein to work out the probability. By taking the same lottery numbers draw after draw, allows the operator to build up a database of all the combinations it knows have no chance of being drawn. They only have to make sure that, some, if not all of the numbers, are not drawn, to reduce the number of winners, and amount of money they have to pay out. This applies to the lucky dip option as well.

Do you really think that the lucky dip option is lucky! It is in the interest of the lottery operator to get as many people as possible to play the lottery, by using this option. How many operators do you think, would pay out a vast amount of money for a computer, which is capable of selecting a truly random set of numbers? It is far easier, and less expensive, to have a computer that doesnt pick a winning set of numbers. So, the more people that use the lucky dip option, the less winners there are likely to be. Over here in England, it is unusual to have more than one winner, winning a share of the jackpot using the lucky dip option? I personally, never use the lucky dip option to select my numbers, its a complete waste of time.
