Army Green Beret Training - Becoming a Green Beret


Read below if you think you have what it takes to be as fit and tough as an Army Green Beret.

Below are the requirements for each service and the military workout that will help you get physically prepared for the Green Beret training.

The first step to becoming an Army Green Beret is to pass the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course (SFAS). To get into the SFAS, you have to pass a minimum physical fitness test. If your really motived to be in Green Beret shape then you want to be able to do more than just the minmum.


Here is the minum physical requirements to pass the SFAS for the Army Green Beret:

- Complete the 2-mile run in at least 12 to 14 minutes (you should strive for 10 minutes)

- 100 sit-ups in 2 minutes. (strive for 120 sit ups)

- 100 push-ups in 2 minutes. (strive for 120 push ups)

Accomplishing these physical fitness tests will give you a perfect score of 300 and greatly increase your chances of being tough enough and physically fit enough to be a Green Beret.

The three-week SFAS course, taught at Fort Bragg, N.C. which consists of the physical fitness phase which you will be expected to able to complete the physical fitness goals mentioned above and the second phase tests and measures your leaderships skills.

After you complete SFAS, you will be selected by the Army SF instructors to be part of what is called 'the Special Forces Qualification Course' (SFQC) which lasts from 6 months to a year.

The physical training at the ArmySpecial Forces Qualification Course' willbeat on you physically. First your day starts at about 4am and ends at 10pm. Most people who fail or quit lack the ability to persevere through and past the fatigue, pain, and stress that accompanies such Green Beret training.

If Army Green Beret is your goal or at least you want to be as physically fit as an Army Green Beret then here's a good starting workout that will help you reach it.

Swimming:

Two to three times a week, 1,000 to 2,000 meters. (3-5 football field lengths approximately)

Running:

Four to five times a week, 3 to 5 miles running as fast as you can. Twice a week, do rucksack marches carrying a 30 to 50 lbs marching 5 to 15 miles at a fast walking pace.

Physical Training: (3 to 4 days a week)

Pull-ups, seven to 10 sets of 10 reps

Push-ups, 10 to 15 sets of 20 reps


Sit-ups, five to 10 sets of 40 to 50 reps

This is at a least a start to Army Green Beret style training and will help you get fit as a Green Beret fast.
