As far as the field of arts and crafts is concerned, Rajasthan is among the richest states in India. Art and Crafts of Rajasthan is an integral and special part of the state. Rajasthani Art is acknowledged all over India for its delicate design and convoluted pattern woven on them. Each district and cities of Rajasthan specializes in different art forms.

The history of Rajasthan reveals that the kings and their nobles were the patrons of arts and crafts and they encourages their craftsmen in activities ranging from wood and marble carving to weaving, pottery and painting.

One can see the stones, clay, leather, wood, glass, brass, silver, gold textiles in the most brilliant form in Rajasthan. Jaipur meenakaris is famed for its delicacy and its use of colors. In Jewellery Rajasthan has its unique style. Some of the traditional designs are rakhri, tmaniyan, bala, bajuband, gajra, gokhru etc. Lac and bangles are made in bright colours and sometimes inlaid with glass.

Carved wood is presented in a wide range of objects and is simple and inexpensive. Statues on religious themes are carved all over Rajasthan and in several cities there are still entire lanes where the stone carvers can be seen giving final touches to statues or even pillars.

Other crafts like blue pottery, hand block printing, dye, painting on camel hide, carpets, durries etc are to be found all over Rajasthan. The world famous miniature paintings of Rajasthan are the most fascinating and the distinctive styles.

The artists in Jaipur, Nathdware and Kishengarh still work on miniatures and some of them produce excellent work. Hence Rajasthan's role in the development of Indian art has been very important.
