Attracting Newcomers to Network Marketing

By Michael Griep

It's simple, people have either have been involved in network marketing or they haven't. I feel strongly the market to attract newcomers far exceeds the market to attract people who have been or are currently involved in network marketing. Attracting newbies often requires a different approach, but the potential is staggering.

The Newbie Market Far Exceeds the Experienced

We were all new to network marketing at one point. The attraction and income opportunities appeal to most everyone, so the question becomes "Why not focus on the massive population which has never been involved in network marketing?" You'll not have to deal with the skepticism and criticism associated with "burned" marketers who look only to poke holes in your business rather than focus on potential. Additionally, in today's economy, the number of professionals being downsized, outsourced, or experiencing pay cuts is an unfortunate reality. Most of these people have skills which transfer well to the network marketing arena and have the potential to be highly successful.

It's All in the Approach

Talk to most newbies, and their idea of network marketing may consist of EBay or retail shopping online. That's ok; your focus needs to be on explaining the potential of network marketing in terms of income opportunity, popularity, and career potential. Provided your prospect has been through your website, you should be able to communicate effectively the overall vision of your business. Be careful NOT to intimidate your prospect by giving technical details of marketing and practices. It is important to discuss, but remember they are new to network marketing and probably have a degree of uncertainty as to their competency. Don't fuel the fire by flexing your "techie" muscles. You'll scare away potentially qualified prospects.

Huge Potential for Referral Sales

Newbies offer tremendous potential for referral sales which ultimately grow your downline. Anyone moving from the traditional workplace to network marketing is doing so because of the enormous potential of the internet. Most people have a circle of influence or friends which they communicate with as to their current occupation. First of all, when their friends realize they are working from home, which will definitely raise some attention. With your support and guidance, success should follow. When they share their success with former colleagues, or friends, there is a REAL opportunity to attract part time or full time newbies to your business. Not to mention the enthusiasm and excitement network marketing provides. So, before you spend the next half hour playing mental ping pong with a frustrated marketing prospect, turn your attention to the newbie who wants to change their life today!

Good Luck
