Automation and manual labor have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages. It is only up with the people concerned on which one should be implemented.
In manufacturing industry, automation plays a very much important role in the production of different stuff. Automation is required so that the manufacturer will be able to produce products with great efficiency and accuracy which human or manual labor cannot achieve. Automation also enables the company to save on expenses especially in hiring workers. Companies do not need to hire that much of workers since automated machineries can perform their tasks more accurately and efficiently. Automation also eliminates human error since automated manufacturing machineries are less prone to error because they are already automated.
One of the major disadvantages of implementing automation in manufacturing industry is that it replaces the human in manufacturing products. In other words, workers are losing their jobs over automated manufacturing machineries. But we also have to remember that these machineries cannot function well without the supervision of a human. From time to time they still need to be inspected to ensure that they are performing their given tasks. Machines also need to be maintained and repaired to ensure efficiency and reliability.
Automation devices are needed to be implemented with the current manufacturing system to automate processes. These automation devices are also known as Programmable Logic Controllers which let the users to set specific processes to be performed by the machine. The company needs to ensure that they use the latest automation devices when they are implementing automation to ensure that the errors in the previous versions are already fixed.
As a bottom line, automation entails a lot of advantages when it is implemented in different processes which make our lives more comfortable and convenient.
