. The execution is the next step. This can turn out to be more challenging than it appears. There are several obstacles that many people face when attempting to implement a strategy.

The first of these challenges is staying aware of and adjusting to the changing environment of both the internet and the target industry. Many aspects of the internet, search engines and social media platforms change without much warning. For instance, Facebook recently integrated their "like" button feature in the comments section. This is also available on websites that are independent of Facebook. Had you begun your online marketing strategy prior to this change you may need to suddenly implement the "like" button as part of your plan instead of just ignoring it for the time being and waiting until it's too late to incorporate it into your strategy. Industries and technologies have the potential of changing just as quickly. It is essential to be aware of and adjust accordingly because of these changes.

Engage employees and advocates emotionally in the strategy. It is natural for employees and advocates to be skeptical of implementing some new strategy. Keep everyone informed about exactly what the strategy will entail. Make sure they feel they can successfully participate in the strategy and keep them motivated to continue to be successful in implementing the strategy. A lack of information sharing will deter both employees and advocates from being emotionally involved, excited and productive in the implementation of the strategy.

When success is not immediately achieved and employees and advocates are not quick on the uptake of the new strategy, it can be hard to stay motivated. Remember that in every strategy implementation there will be a certain amount of difficulty. Find something that motivates and inspires you to keep going. Don't burn yourself out early in the game. It is always a good idea to define the end goal of implementing your strategy and keep it in mind. You can keep this as your screen saver, write it on your white board or use it as the wallpaper on your phone. Whatever you have to do to keep the goal in sight to keep from getting discouraged; do it.

These main challenges of implementing a strategy are often overlooked. Keep these in mind before implementing the strategy in order to keep yourself from getting overwhelmed by these challenges.
