Some people believe that baseball was initially played in England and it is from there that the American's got it. Others are of the opinion that it was through cricket that baseball evolved. An investigation was also conducted during 1905-1907 in order to understand where exactly baseball came about from. The investigation carried out revealed an old man who claimed to be a childhood friend of Abner Doubleday who stated that it was Abner who had invented the game back in 1839 in Cooperstown in New York (Stewart).
