How Chess Pieces move:
1) King: The king can move one space in any direction: forward, backwards, side to side or diagonally.
2) Queen: The queen can move forward, backwards, or diagonal, but cannot jump over any pieces.
3) Knights: The knight can move two spaces forward and one space to the left or right-kind of like an L. Moves of knights are very important in planning chess strategies as they can jump over any pieces ,they play a very crucial role in chess game.
4) Bishops: The bishop can move diagonally across the board but they cannot jump over the pieces.
5) Rooks: The rook can move straight forward, backwards or sideways, but they cannot jump over a piece.
6) Pawns: Pawns can move straight forward two squares for their very first move and forward one square every time after that. If they are going to "capture" the other player's piece they can move forward diagonally one square to the left or right.
