Caring for the dog inside the house becomes a burdensome task

, yet so many people still go out of their way to let their dogs stay indoors. This is because dogs provide such a great deal of comfort whenever you are tired from work. Most of these dogs are small to medium sized dogs, having sizes not big enough to create havoc in the home. In order for the dog to be a good member of the household, you should do some dog basic home training.

Upon acquiring the dog, usually a puppy, start toilet training your pup right away. Failure to toilet train a pup would mean having very messy homes later on. Teach you pup how to litter on newspapers and not everywhere around the house. After its meal, immediately place it on the newspaper until it is able to poop or urinate. Once your dog has mastered this routine, everything else would be a cinch.

The next thing that you must teach your dog is that it has its own food and therefore must not try to grab the food on the table. Make sure that you only put its food on the dog bowl and not anywhere else. Dogs need consistency and permanency, and by being consistent in placing its food in the bowl alone, you tell it to eat only from that particular bowl.

After meals, you can give your dog some great dog treats as its reward for being obedient inside the house. Dogs also need to be rewarded for their good efforts. Treating your dog in a special manner after it has done something really good would be a great way of affirming that it was able to please you.

If you let your dog stay the whole time in the house until evening, try to teach it where to sleep. You can provide a small indoor dog house for it, especially if it is just a small dog, or you can also buy a dog bed. Once your dog was able to stay in its dog bed the whole night, have some dog treats ready for your dog in the morning.

Giving your dog a nice dog treat every now and then would make the dog feel good and special. In the end, you would have a dog that is truly obedient and loyal, as long as you continue to love it really well.
