Be Creative With Small Spaces
Studio apartments are a choice which many people are forced to take advantage of
, simply because of their monetary situation. While very few people would actually choose to live in a small, one-room living arrangement, sometimes this is simply all that is available to them. This, however, doesn't mean that you will have to compromise and live in an environment which does not feel like home. If you are planning on moving into a studio apartment you will simply have to be a little more creative on figuring out the best way to make your space comfortable and spacious while still finding ways to have a space for each area that you might need.
If you have a large room which you need to accommodate your living space with your bedroom, it may seem impossible. By having a futon or a sofa bed is one option you can consider. Everyone will just figure you have a hidden room which is your bedroom. But once the company leaves it will become your bedroom by just one lift of the sofa cushion.
Kitchens are sometimes the smaller space in an apartment building. If you are able to hang a pot and pan rack on the wall, this will give you more space in the cabinets for your dishes and cups. Storage bins are also a great thing to create additional space in your kitchen.
A table is also a necessity for not only will you need a place to eat and entertain your guests at but you will also need some sort of flat surface that you can use as a work table when you need it. You could choose a folding table of sorts, which can easily be cleared out of the way when more space is needed, or you could get yourself a half-table which can be pushed up against the wall. This could help make more room in the area while still providing a surface for all the necessities.
Adding an area rug to a room which is small can make the space feel cozy and warm. Try going with a lighter colored rug so it makes the flooring seem quite larger than it actually is. Using darker colors may just make the room seem tight and very narrow.
Obviously, space will be an issue in a studio apartment, making it a priority for anyone living in one to determine what they absolutely need to live in the space. They will not be able to make many purchases simply because they will not have the space to store them. While living in a studio apartment can be a bit of a challenge, it can also be incredibly rewarding, as long as someone is smart about the way they are approaching the space.
