Furnishing really do make a home look nice. We have friends who recently built a new home, they had a garage sell and sold all their old furniture, the kind we have, nothing matches, nothing goes together, but it is functional. They were always so frugal until they built this new home. Their Grandmother passed away who was one of the founders of a local grocery chain in the 50's. She had amassed quite a little nest egg and at her passing her grandchildren became well-to-do. This is where frugality ended and beautiful expense taste took over.

We had lived next door to this family for five or six years. She cut coupons, bargained shopped, never spent more than was absolutely necessary. I used to buy her boys clothes when I found them on clearance because they looked like rag-a-muffins sometimes. But when grandma passed, all that frugality went out the window. I was amazed at her taste, it was beautiful. Teak furniture in the family room, exotic woods in the living room and dining room. Tastefully decorated and accessorized, not too much, just the right touch. It was an amazing transformation. She has four little boys that shared two rooms, not anymore, they had their own rooms with plenty to spare. A gaming room, a library, a family room, large screen televisions, a eight person hot tub.

When the house was completed and all was decorated to perfection she went back to being her frugal self, cutting coupons, watching the ads and shopping clearance. Her boys didn't go back to looking like orphans though, but they certainly didn't spend extra. Frugality is a wonderful trait and it will make her inheritance last much longer. They built a gorgeous home with teak furniture, and a hot tub for eight but old habits die hard and the simple, budget conscience person rode again. Not a bad idea for all of us.

Model homes are beautiful due to their furniture and landscaping, we can't forget that. My home would be stunning with $10,000 dollars of new furniture and accessories in it also. Maybe we could start with the teak furniture, that is my favorite and lends itself to amazing patterns, motives, designs and color pallets. Accessories also complete a homes decor and makes it look finished and artistic.
