Beginning To Play Golf – What You Need To Know

A lot of people will have started to take an interest in the sport of golf

, over the past few years the sport has seen a surge in popularity as younger golfers have come through the ranks and proved that there is a growing interest in golf. If you have decided to try playing golf yourself then you may have been a bit bewildered at all of the equipment, stances and clubs that you will need to become a decent player.

The need for buying your own equipment is fairly obvious but some players have managed to borrow a friend or family members clubs or found somewhere that loans clubs out (usually a club shop although they won't be the best condition clubs). Once you have played a few rounds and got a feel for the sport you will want to buy your own golf clubs and there are many beginners' sets that you can buy that have features that make them more forgiving when hitting the ball.

As well as getting the right equipment you'll want to find a course you can hone your skills on, many councils have municipal golf courses that may have cheap enough green fees for you to get a few rounds in every now and then and should help you start to get a feel for your clubs but also the shots and movements that you will need to take when playing golf.

As you play you may want to note down any areas you are struggling with, this could be getting trouble with putting or getting your chips to land where you want them to. Whatever is causing you trouble don't worry or get frustrated as most golfers will have at least one area that causes them trouble, even the professionals. With these areas noted down you will be able to formulate where you need to focus your practice sessions and maybe even do research online for free golf lessons.

If you would rather get a personal assessment from a golf professional then getting golf lessons from a pro could help to learn something that you may or may not be doing which could help shave strokes off your game and help you overcome any difficulties you've had when out on the golf course.

Playing golf should be enjoyable so don't let small problems get you down as they can often be easily rectified with regular practice and even playing a round of golf where you can put these practices into practice!

There are many discount golf opportunities whether it is vouchers to save money on green fees or free golf lessons online to get the help you may need.
