Being A Little More Green With The E Cigarette
Cigarette smokers get a whole lot of flack for their habit and while some people
may claim they have the smokers' best interests at heart, it is quite an invasion of privacy. Smokers are often seen as dirty and unhealthy and are seen as people who just don't care about anyone else but themselves. That, however, could be farther from the truth because smokers generally are conscious about where they smoke and who they smoke around. Many smokers try to be conscientious of who is around them, making it a point to stay free and clear from any children who may around them at the time.
And that's not the only thing that smokers take the beef for. They also get blamed for being not "green", not caring about the environment because of the cigarette butts that they have to throw out, and polluting the air that we all share. They get blamed for the ashes and the residue.
There is, luckily, a product that could help smokers who wish to do their part in being more green. That product is called the electronic cigarette, a smoking alternative that mimics the smoking experience very well. The device looks like a cigarette in the sense that it has a long white part and an brown-orange filter at the other end. It pretty much feels like you are holding in your hand a real one as well. Best of all, it acts like a cigarette because it allows the user to draw on the end that resembles a filter and inhale a smoke-like vapor that contains differing strengths of nicotine.
So how does this little device help the smoker to become more environmentally friendly? For a number of reasons. First, the e cigarette is not actually lit up by a flame and there is no burning of any tobacco mixture that contains numerous additives. That also means there are 4,000+ less chemicals and toxins that are being dispersed into the air every single time someone uses their e cigarette instead of its tobacco counterpart.
Second, the majority of cigarette butts are made of cellulose acetate, a plastic ingredient that decomposes very slowly. Depending on certain factors, a single cigarette butt can take anywhere from just a few months to about 10 years to decompose. What's worse is that the filter itself contains the thousands of chemicals that had to pass through inside the smoker's mouth. Traces of tar, cadmium, cyanide, and all of the other very dangerous chemicals are still inside of the butt and leach out. When a butt is improperly disposed of, the well-being of both wildlife and plantlife are compromised and thus affected.
Last, the fact that e cigarettes require very little maintenance and have parts that are re-used over and over again eliminates the majority of the trash. You have rechargeable batteries that can eventually be recycled when they go bad, an atomizer that can also be recycled, refill cartridges that can be used repeatedly with e liquid, and a charger that can also be recycled when needed.
