The earth, because of its right distance and perfect chemical structure, has benefitted from both the light and heat that is emitted by the sun. Its orbit range provides it with just the right distance to enable the survival of living organisms. The heat and the light, together make up the solar energy.

The solar energy or sun power is an extremely beneficial thing. If it can generate life on a dead planet then it can do many more wonders for it too. The solar energy facts, as revealed by the scientists, clearly prove that the sun power has a lot to offer than is understood by the average man. Just to get an idea of how much potential energy is stored in the suns rays we evaluate the fact that a years supply of uninterrupted solar energy is twice the amount of all the collective energy that can ever be produced by the all of earths natural resources.

Because of the dearth of these natural resources, which are quite luxuriously burnt to comply to mankinds needs, scientists have been searching for the right alternative energy source an energy source that would be cheap and abundant in its supply. And so far they have discovered that solar energy is just that. It doesnt cost a penny to bask in the open sunlight and furthermore, the light and the heat of the sun are just as much as was a million years ago.

So what is solar energy and how does solar energy work? So far, we have understood what solar energy is but how does it work and how can we, the average human being, make it work for us? It is understood that both the light and heat that we receive from the sun cannot be directly used to light our homes, to cook our food and to heat up the water.

Solar energy is a form of potential energy source that needs to be transformed into a kind of energy that can be used in the homes, offices and industries. For example this potential energy can be converted into electricity with the use of photovoltaic panels; we can use this electricity just like the electricity that already runs in our homes. Therefore in order for the solar energy to become useful in every home and in every building, there has to be a solar power system that needs to be installed first.

The type of solar power system that would be installed in the building will decide what kind of electricity it is able to produce. Many authoritative bodies have become aware of protecting the planet from further emissions of harmful gases that are mostly the by-product of energy production. These bodies have therefore placed an incentive to adopt greener ways of producing energy. Solar powered cars and solar powered houses are a result of this quest to search for a useful alternative energy source. Many companies have started to build, compact and practical solar panels that can be installed on roof tops to generate electricity in every home.
