Since starting to play Bingo online, I have come across a few surprising twists, least of all the way the calling has changed. These sound familiar? 22 -Two little ducks, 88 - two fat ladies, 69 -Anyway up; yes, all familiar, traditional bingo calls. So has Bingo moved on since the days my Gran played down at the local Bingo hall and I played in the prize Bingo rooms on Blackpool seafront?

Apparently, yes. At least in the world of the best bingo sites. In one game I heard them refer to number ten as Deirdre and Ken. Any keen Coronation Street fan would know the inspiration for that one. However, Gok Wan was number one!!! Gok Wan....I mean I absolutely adore the bespectacled man. Friend to women of all shapes and sizes but he's no replacement for Kelly's eye!

Whoever thought up these interesting calls I do not know. And it makes me wonder what will happen to the true heritage of British Bingo. All of the above calls were heard in one game of online Bingo. One game! I can't remember which game, just that I absent-mindedly listed them all on my note-pad (that's probably why they appear in a truly random order; sorry for not listing them numerically).

It was the following day that I realised I had done it and started to wonder.......

If I could choose my own what would they be?

7 daughter's bedtime (yippee!), 35 where's my sex-drive? (I joke, of course), 1 my big fat bum, 17 Mr Sheen, 8 wash the plates, 9 washing on the line, 28 beds are made, 21 hoovering's done! I could go on but it would only serve to reinforce the idea that I am a wife and mother foremost and therefore my life, other than Bingo, revolves around housework. It doesn't of course, I just couldn't think of any others!

Or as my husband just suggested number 4 (phwoar I think he means it to sound like) Kelly Brooke (his choice again; and unfortunately his taste in women meant I had to marry him as he chose me. Maybe it means I look somewhat like her?)

Seriously though, I am going to keep a look out from now onwards to see what other calls I hear in the future. I'm hoping for some real rib-ticklers. If you do see or hear of any do let me know.
