BlackBerry Torch 2 Set to be New Flagship for RIM

The increased amount of features in the BlackBerry phones is something that will be translated into other BlackBerry phones as well. It all started with the BlackBerry Torch and it is all set to receive a new version since it is coming under increasing threat from other competitors. The new Blackberry Torch 2 will be the phone that will be launched in order to replace the BlackBerry Torch and it is expected to more than keep up with the tradition of being feature rich in the same way as the plenty of BlackBerry phones prior to it.

The Blackberry Torch 2 will be coming with a 3.2 inch touch screen that is going to use resolution of 480 x 640 pixels, which is almost double the resolution of the previous phone. This is the area where the new phone gets a huge improvement over the phone that was the predecessor to it. Other features include the capacitive touch screen display that is going to use the powerful processor to process the multiple touches very quickly. Some features have been included in the new phone without any changes from the previous phone as they were already extremely good. These included the likes of the full QWERTY keyboard and the optical trackpad. The full QWERTY keyboard is going to be accessed in the same way as in the previous phone, i.e. portrait mode.

The Blackberry Torch 2 will be most importantly changing the way that it used to provide the memory to the phone. Previously, the phone had 8 GB of memory. It was available in both the internal and the external options, but in the new Blackberry Torch 2 it will be available only in the internal memory. Hence, there is going to be 8 GB worth of internal memory, while the normal 32 GB memory card support will continue as ever. The Blackberry Torch 2 is currently using a five megapixel camera that remains unchanged from the previous phone since it is one of the features that was highly appreciated by many. The features also remain the same and one can learn this by looking at the specifications of the phone, which tells that this camera will be having LED flash, image stabilisation, continuous autofocus and many other features.

The Blackberry Torch 2 is going to come with a 1.2 GHz processor that is extremely fast, despite being only a single core unit. BlackBerry has restricted the usage of the dual core unit since it will be adversely affecting the battery life of the phone, which is also of importance when designing a phone. The Blackberry Torch 2 is going to be utilising the BlackBerry OS 6.1 that was recently launched featuring a number of improvements over the previous operating system, which first introduced the notion of multitasking into the BlackBerry phones. The presence of the 1300 mAh battery means that the talk times and standby times are also expected to be brilliant. The exact launch date of the Blackberry Torch 2 is unknown.
