Boeing 777 new addition in Turkish Airline fleet

Turkish Airline, Turkey's flagship carrier, airline has taken the delivery of Boeing B777 that will add to the airline's fleet of about 148 (+61 orders). Boeing 777 family cliental includes top airlines, namely British Airlines, Cathy Pacific, Air France, United Airlines etc. The wide body, twin-engine aircraft will now be flying with a Turkish flag and will reportedly be configured in a two-class set up with 309 economy class seats, including some 63 premium economy seats and 28 flat beds in business class.

Turkish Airline holds presence in Africa, Europe, Asia and Middle East and offers flights via Istanbul, the capital of Turkey. The airline holds its base at Ataturk International Airport, Istanbul while offers flights from London Heathrow Airport UK.

Reports confirm that Turkish Airlines (THY) has received the first of 12 brand new B777-300 ER recently. Few other 11 Boeing 777s out of the remaining 11 ordered by the airline, are also planned to be delivered this year. However, the total order (12 Boeing 777s) is likely to be completed by the first half of 2011. It is understood that the airline's present B777 fleet is leased and the contracts will expire by the end of the year, when the newly-delivered aircraft will have been integrated into operations. This new addition has turned heads for Turkish Airline and is likely to help it grow its clientele.

Currently, the popular routes of Turkish Airline (THY) include an A340 Flights to Entebbe (http://www.cheapflightsafrica.co.uk/entebbe/)while flights to Dar es Salaam (http://www.travelhouseuk.co.uk/flights/africa/dar_es_salam.htm)are also operated on the A340 thrice weekly.

Turkish Airways holds a strong presence in Eastern Africa and is one of the providers of low cost and cheap flights to Nairobi (http://www.travelhouseuk.co.uk/flights/africa/nairobi.htm)via Istanbul. With the new B777s, it is expected that Turkish will increase long-haul destinations, while the existing long-haul flights will gain more popularity.
