Wall Street Journal editor called New York Botanical Garden

, "A Garden of Earthly Delights." This garden was built in Bronx region, in 1891 and covers an area of 250 acres. Nathaniel Lord Britton was the first director of this garden. Different events are organized annually at the New York Botanical Garden, which offers the visitors to learn and explore about different plant varieties.

New York Botanical Garden not only has attractive hills, ponds and waterfalls, it also has vast ranges of historical buildings like century landmarks and Victorian conservatory (world's largest conservatory). This garden is truly a center ecological preservation.

The Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden

This garden remains open from May to September and has more than three thousand species of rose. Both antique and contemporary roses are found here. The antique rose plants here are aged over 2000 years. This garden is an award winning rose garden.

The Home Gardening Center

This center is meant to offer its help and advice in making one's own garden. Different garden samples are provided by this center along with handouts containing tips and instructions to understand the basics of good garden.

The Forest

A 50-acre woodland forest is an attractive feature of New York botanical Garden. It is a lush green forest with paths built inside to allow visitors to stroll and enjoy the serene environment. In this forest you can find trees over 200 years old.

The Mertz Library

One of the largest research libraries "LuEsther T. Mertz Library" is located inside the New York Botanical Garden. It has more than 1,000,000 plant items along with some old manuscripts about plants, which dated back to 1100 A.D. a large collection of horticulture journals is also available in the library.

The Everett Children's Adventure Garden

This garden is specially designed for children between 2 and 12 years of age. The main purpose of this garden is to provide children an opportunity to learn things and experience plants with all their senses. A new event is arranged in every new season. The major activities of children garden include Touch Tank and Boulder Maze.

The Family Garden

This is a great fun for everyone, especially for children as they can dig in the dirt and can plant seeds on their own. Special gardening program help children as well as adults to learn different gardening skills. This garden remains closed to public during winter season.

Food Options

Those who visit New York Botanical Garden can enjoy delicious food at Garden Caf and Leon Levy Visitor Center Caf. You have the facility to dine inside or outside, enjoying the serene environment.

Botanical Gardens NYC

The New York Botanical Garden remains open throughout the year except for Mondays. Visiting garden is equally a great experience and fun for both adults and young visitors. Your visit not only allows you to enjoy the colorful range of floras and faunas, but you will be able to learn a lot about the plants and their different types.
