British Gas offers to do away to estimated bills through its EnergySmart scheme which

entails British Gas customers send their monthly gas or electricity meter readings through email or text.

This initiative comes following consumers getting shocked and surprised at their meter readings during this year"s tough economic conditions. By introducing the EnergySmart offer, British Gas customers need not pay any longer for estimated bills but only pay for the energy they use. By providing them with free electricity monitors and regular reminders of checking their meter readings, British gas is doing its level best to encourage its customers to save up to 150 on duel fuel.

Furthering to the customers interest, by facilitating payment of energy bills on monthly basis, British Gas enables families to plan their monthly budgets in a better manner rather than waiting for the end of the quarter period for the energy bills and pay larger amounts.

At present energy suppliers are supposed to take meter readings meter reading only every two years which is highly inaccurate and leads to discrepancy in actual energy consumption and meter readings, hence most customers could be paying more despite low energy consumption.
