They then presented Shakespeare plays and ballad operas. There came The Merchant of Venice and The Anatomist from Williamsburg, Virginia which moved to New York in the year 1753. However, shows were suspended because of the Revolutionary war but resumed thereafter.

In the year 1850, Theater in New York moved to midtown. The Union Square became the heart of Broadway in the year 1870. Until such time many theaters were available near Madison Square and in Time Squares at 1900s. Then it grows numbers in the year 1920s and 1930s. The Elves musical in 1857 was the first long-run musical. Though the New Yorks shows were far behind those in London, it changed when Laura Keens musical burletta Seven Sisters changed when it runs to 253 performances.

To think of, it was just the beginning of musical plays in the stage that would gather people around in one city and that is New York. More and more come to this place for Broadway shows and for other beautiful packages it brings to any tourist.
