Browns Ladders Supports National Ladder Safety Campaign

Lancashire-based Browns Ladders is supporting a national campaign which aims to reduce deaths and injuries in the workplace.

The 2010 Ladder Exchange, led by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in partnership with the Ladder Association, will see thousands of damaged, bent or broken ladders exchanged for new ones.

Chris Ball, chairman of the Ladder Association, said: "Since it was first introduced, the Ladder Exchange has helped contribute to ladder safety.

"The Ladder Association fully supports this practical example of successful co-operation between HSE, the ladder industry and its trade body."

Inadequate ladders are the main cause of deaths at work. Last year, ladders were involved in nearly of quarter of deaths from heights.

The exchange programme is open to anyone who needs to swap their damaged ladders at a discounted price and runs in participating retailers until 30 November 2010.

Whichever ladder is broken loft ladder, roof ladder, extension ladder or step ladder Browns Ladders can exchange it for you.

Since the ladder exchange programme was launched in 2007, more than 7,000 ladders have been exchanged - including step ladders, loft ladders, extension ladders and roof ladders.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is Britain's national regulator for workplace health and safety.

By providing on-site ladder inspections nationwide, plus ladders and scaffold tower training courses, Browns Ladders helps companies to comply with the current regulations.
