Camping holidays in are one of the most enjoyable I have ever been on. The kids still talk about it and I cant wait for my next. I don't have a high paying job and neither does my wife but we still managed to have one of the best holidays I could ever have imagined. We traveled for an entire two months stopping off when wherever we wanted. We ate very well and were never bored. We did all this for pittance ! with the help of a guide we found here.
This year had been particularly bad regarding money, my wife lost her job and had to taker on a lower paid one. I never thought we could afford any holiday let alone one that was two months long. I would thoroughly recommend anyone who is desperate for a holiday but cant afford it to think about a camping holiday or a road trip.
Some of the major benefits we found while on our trip were that you can pace yourself, and take the time to see new sights. You are not limited to what times the train station or airport go by. There's no rushing, which means far less stress, which means less things get forgotten and everyone is generally happier. You also don't have to worry about the cost of hotel meals, there are many ways to feed yourself and your family very well at a fraction of the cost.
Being in control of where and when you go is a very liberating experience. If you find yourself driving for hours and see an area that looks interesting your are able to stop and take the time to explore. The little ones love exploring. It costs nothing and leads to hours of fun and excitement when you find something new.
Even if you are worried about bills , there are also ways to make money while you are taking a camping holiday. These could include working as a farm hand for the day. You could just approach a farm and ask if they needed any assistance with the farm chores or animal handling. I was particularly lucky as it was just starting harvest season and the farms in the area were very busy. I managed to make a nice bit of cash which is always useful. There are also many other ways to eat or stay for free or extremely cheaply. It just takes a bit of imagination.
