Belgaum is the fifth largest city of the Indian state of Karnataka

. It is the municipal as well as the district administration of the state. Belgaum is located in the southern part of the country. The present city of Belgaum was founded by the Ratta Dynasty in the twelfth century AD. The city is blessed with the natural beauty and is rich with natural resources and beauty. Belgaum has a rich and diverse culture, tradition and significant past history.

The city has developed significantly and has a promising future. Belgaum has emerged as the divisional headquarter and the commercial hub for the northern Karnataka. The city has many small, medium and large level industries, firms and businesses. Here in Belgaum, bauxite deposits are found and that has led to the establishment of HINDALCO, Indian Aluminum Company Aditya Birla Group for the production of aluminum.

The city is the highest producer of milk in the whole state and is also the only city in the whole state that runs most number of sugar factories. Not just this, since the late twentieth century, Belgaum is a well known city for the manufacture of heavy metals. Here you will also find the largest textile center of the state and also many other trades.

As the city is a tourism spot so there are many places worth a visit which include, Vajrapoha Falls, Mandovi River, Godchinamalaki Falls, Gokak Falls, Amboli Hill Station, Dudhsagar Water Falls, Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary, and Anshi National Park. The city of Belgaum takes pride in being the major educational hub of the state. Here you will find eight engineering colleges, five medical colleges, and some dental colleges.Vishvesvaraya Technological University, the Lingaraj College, BVB College of Engineering and Technology, JN Medical College, G H College and KLE Engineering College.

The schools in the city are affiliated with CBSE and ICSE boards and are run by government or by some private organization or trust. The schools here are situated near the residential locations and for the distant students, schools have transport facility available. The schools here have innovative and extensive education system.
