Building Your Business On A Budget

I was inspired to write this article for those of you who are on the fence about starting a home based business

. The excuse I hear the most as far as why people dont start a home business is because they dont have money to invest. And although I was on the same boat when I first got started, I learned that there is ways to build your business on a budget.

Many people tell me that they dont have a few hundred dollars to invest a month into a home based business. However, lets look at these statistics: The average American spends over $200 a month for entertainment. Thats going to the movies, dinning out, shows etc. Also, the average American spends over $150 a month on clothes. Keyword average because I know my girlfriend spends 3 times that! Thats about $350 a month. Most people dont know but with this kind of money YOU CAN start and build a home business on this budget.

If you are serious about building a business and become an entrepreneur, then you know that you will need to make some sacrifices. I know I had too make HUGE sacrifices when I got started because I hardly had any money to invest. But as your business picks up, youll have more to work with. Reinvest your profits into your business and watch it grow!

I want to share with you a few techniques on how you can start promoting and building your business on a budget. If you have $0 to invest in advertising this is for you.

Bloggin.

Blogging is one of the most powerful mediums you can use to start advertising your company or products. This is the secret to Blogging though: always lead with value! It is simple to start a Blog. You can set up a free Blog with Blogspot by google or with Wordpress. If you can afford a small hosting fee a month set up a Wordpress.org Blog. This way you have all the control. Once set up, start posting. However, like I said, lead with value. For example: if you are a lawyer, post information on what procedures a person needs to go to in order to file for divorce. Or, give information on the procedure to win a custody trial etc. This way, people will trust that you know what you are talking about. You will establish yourself as a leader. And when people need your services, guess who they will come looking for? YOU!

Video Marketing.

Currently, there are 24 hours worth of videos uploaded to you tube.com every 60 minutes! Read that again! Thats just youtube and not counting the other hundred video sites on the world wide web. It is easy to post videos. The same principals as blogging applies here. Shoot short videos, about 3 minutes long. And talk about general information about your product or service. Dont advertise, EVER. Advertising is annoying and will get you nowhere on video marketing. What you are marketing is yourself and your knowledge. The only investment involved with video marketing is a camera. You can buy a Flip for around $100, or a webcam for about $35. Once you shoot your video, upload it to as many video sites as possible. Youtube is not the only video site that search engines like. Ive seen my videos come up on the search results from different video sites before my youtube videos come up. This is one of the most powerful ways to build your business on a budget.

Social Media

Facts about social media: Facebook alone boasts (at last report) over 300 MILLION users! Thats 300,000,000 that is a lot of people if you ask me! And we are only talking about Facebook and not counting Myspace, Twitter, Flikr, Stumbleupon and the list goes on and on. This is another perfect way to establish yourself as a leader. Create a profile in as many social sites as you can. Then interact with the communities providing them value and information. If you do this enough, people will become curious as to what you are offering and will visit your site. If you are not using social media to build your business you will not stand a chance. This is another way to build your business on a budget.
