Business Systems Still Need Development

Why do business systems, in general, still need more development?

The answer here is quite simple, I believe. Business systems will always continue to grow no matter the current situations are. As humans evolve, and so will its technology. Otherwise, we'd be stuck in the need-flints-to-start-a-fire era. Just like the examples in this week's readings in Bonus Chapter B, there are always new trends. There was Web 1.0, and now Web 2.0, and in the near future, Web 3.0. When Web 3.0 arrives, businesses will have new opportunities to grab, especially since the GPS systems are now massively in place. New infrastructures will be developed to accommodate these new technologies.

First we had desktop computers. After a while, we had laptops, mainly to accommodate the businesses' needs in computing while traveling. We had GPRS before, but now we have EDGE and 3G which help fasten our mobile communication. Just look around us, I predict that in a couple of more years, more and more WIFI services will be available for freenot just the typical Starbucks free WIFI deal, but in a massive scale.

With these new systems emerging, businesses will have to continue to grow to maximize their scope. Businesses systems will have to adapt to whatever the current trends and technologies arenot only harness the power of communication, but also provide new implementations that will help their business and customers.

I also think that the main reason business systems have to continually evolve is for them to be able to compete with each other. Competition brings in new ideas, which is good in general. It's a never-ending my-business-will-be-better-than-yours cycle.

As far as the main question in this topic itself, to me it sounds like "why do business systems still development when it has already been in effect for more than 40 years." Well, to answer that, I may ask another question. Why do we still need to develop more technologies? Heck, we've been to the moon, but we're still not able to 100% comprehend the bottom of our oceans. It's a constant battle that emerges from people's needs and their quest for making things such as organizing, competition, management, communication, etc. as smooth as possible.

Business systems will only stop developing when there are no businesses left at all.
