Buying a new baby stroller can be an overwhelming choice
. With so many choices it can be near impossible to make a choice. While many people are still buying for price, wise parents buy after value. If you consider the fact that you may have more children in the future and that the second hand value of stroller can be good, then you might want to think again before simply buying the cheapest one.
In the last 5 to 10 years, the baby stroller took on a whole new dimension. There are 3 main components that you need to look at. Here are some quick guidelines.
1. Frame
Frames used to be made exclusively from steel, but modern frames are made from aluminum. The advantages of aluminum is that its light weight and it does corrode that easily. It is more expensive and it is much bigger though. Steel frames can be quite small and one benefit is that steel can be colored and painted.
2. Wheels
Stroller wheels used to be nothing more than a mere functionality. Hard plastic wheels left your baby with more than a bumpy ride. The can "lock up" and be a real nightmare to push around. Some of the newer designs feature larger wheels which not only makes pushing it easier but it actually makes getting over curbs and obstacles much easier. Then there is also the issue of inflatable wheels to look into. Inflatables have their own advantages and disadvantages but more than anything it provides a very smooth and comfortable ride.
3. Fabric
The fabric of the stroller is very important. Babies are "messy" and I am still surprised how many stroller come in fabrics that cannot be cleaned. Some of the latest strollers actually have fabrics that can be taken off and washed in a normal washing machine. Its important that you buy something that is robust as any stroller is subject to a lot of wear and tear and if you intend to use it for more than one baby, you will need something robust.
