Buying A New Or Used Car
Many car buyers, particularly when purchasing their first or second car
, opt for the cheapest option, which is generally seen as going down the used car route. The car is does not have to be anything elegant or massively aesthetically pleasing, as long as it gets the owner from A to B without any problems.
However, although this may be apparent, there comes a time in the lives of most car owners when they contemplate purchasing a brand new car and this decision can be extremely difficult to make if only used cars have been purchased in the past.
It does not take any major research to discover that, on the whole, buying a used car from a used car dealership can be more beneficial that heading to a new dealership that, for example, sell Audi cars only. Many benefits are prominent, but most notably the price and the variety that used car dealerships offer as apposed to those that, for instance, sell Audi cars exclusively.
Whilst the latter of these two examples offers the buyer a greater choice, it is the first which is often the primary reason why people do not opt for a new car initially.
Purchasing a brand new car can bring with it a lot of positives, but for a considerable amount of people, the factors related to the pricing of the car be a major stumbling block. It is widely known that new cars are more expensive than used cars, as with most things in life. However, it is the loss of value within the first few years of owning a new car that can be problematic for a buyer.
When buying a used car, the value will very rarely drop drastically and will generally fall at a small but steady rate throughout the life of the car. However, when purchasing a new car, the car can lose up to thirty percent of its value within the first year of owning it and astonishingly to some, begins to literally lose its value as soon as it is driven off the forecourt.
Although there may be several negative aspects, purchasing a new car does come with various positive points. For example, most new cars are sold with at least a three year warranty, some with five years and many will offer free tax and servicing for the first year. Furthermore, if buying the car direct from the manufacturer, it is possible to have the car customised to your exact needs and requirements.
The overall answer to should you buy a new or used car is one that can only be answered by the individual. Prices can range so considerably that if money is a primary factor to consider, then a used car will often be the most cost effective option. However, if money is not massively important, then there are some fantastic deals to be had on new cars and of course it brings with it the ability to say that you are the proud owner of a brand new car.
