Buying The Perfect School Backpack For The New Year

Backpacks are a godsend for students that are expected to carry ten pounds or more in books each and every day

. Backpacks today are created to support the heavy weight, but also allow the wearer to be comfortable. For the upcoming school year students should be looking for both qualities in their search.

It is considered to be popular to wear a backpack by only one strap over a single shoulder. The strain contorts the spine in an unsafe way that chiropractors do not recommend. Wearing both straps, and if present the third strap, is using the backpack as it was intended. In this instance it's not the manufacturer that was at fault for poor posture, but rather the wearer who deemed it unnecessary to make use of the backpack properly.

Never overload a duffel bag with weight. Because they are often created to be held by one strap over the shoulder, it can strain the shoulder if more than a few pounds of pressure is applied. Duffel bags are more for carrying light objects such as clothes, notebooks, and other things you might need for a gym class.

When a fad is introduced, it isn't always supportive of the student. One exception to the rule would be a clear backpack. The clear backpack is made of transparent material that is still able to hold heavy weights at a comfortable level. The biggest benefit is that students will never have to dig around in their bag to find something again- it's easily spotted from the outside of the bag!

Test a backpack out before you buy it- it's the only way to judge the comfort level of the bag. Consider putting a little weight in the backpack to judge what it would be like to carry a stack of books. Make a note of how comfortable it is and the posture that it allowed your body to have. If all checks out, you have a winner on your shoulders!

Think about what you will be putting in the bag. Ask yourself if it's big enough or has enough compartments for all of your different needs. Think about using the bag for other uses as well- perhaps find a backpack with many compartments so it can be used for carrying camping gear or staying the night at a friend's house. If you can find a durable backpack, you won't have to pay for another for years to come.
