CEO of Raleigh International comments on Prince William's engagement to Kate Middleton

The Raleigh International global community congratulates Prince William and Kate Middleton on their engagement. Both Prince William and Kate are Raleigh alumni - Prince William went out with Raleigh International in 2000 and Kate in 2001. They join a long list of Raleigh alumni who marry each other 5% of Raleigh alumni say they marry each other.

The couple, like all Raleigh participants, love adventure are keen on community service and willing to go beyond their comfort zones and be tested. They both worked with young people from different backgrounds on community projects, developing an understanding and shared commitment to making a difference. Prince William raised enough money to support another young person from a disadvantaged background on a Raleigh expedition.

Raleigh is a youth and education charity established in 1984 and runs adventure and challenge expeditions for 17-24 year olds (venturers) from a wide range of backgrounds, nationalities and life stages with the aim of increasing the leadership skills of young people and their awareness of their role as active global citizens.

Since 1984, more than 30,000 people have taken part in Raleigh's expeditions, approximately 700 venturers and 200 volunteer managers each year.
