COORG a perfect destination to unwind yourself…

In today's busy and competitive life each and every person would love to distress

themselves or spend some time with the family, friends and dear ones by getting out of their regular lifestyle. For this special and important change in their regular life style people like to go to places where they find peace of mind, where they can relax and distress themselves and enjoy their stay which is planned. If we observe it is not only young professional who are working want to go on tour but also people who have retired from their profession and wants to spend some time with their family as they would not have got time to be with their family when they worked.

Keeping these trends and requirement of the people we decided to design a website for a tourist place which would help people to distress themselves as well as make their trip memorable and worth staying. We decided to design a website for Coorg which is popularly called as "The Kashmir of Karnataka". Coorg is the anglicized name of KODAGU. Coorg is a tourist destination which has turned every visitor's stay worth for million dollars. This tourist designation is suitable for all the generations of today. Finally, we designed www.coorgtourism.org for all the people who are travel freaks and for all those who wants to explore Coorg to the fullest. This website provides with the complete details about tourism in coorg and all the information can be gathered from here.

Coorg's capital is Madikeri. The district is bordered by Dakshina Kannada District to the northwest, Hassan District to the north, Mysore District to the east, the Kannur District of Kerala to the southwest, and the Wayanad District of Kerala to the south.

Coorg is on the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats. It is a hilly district with the lowest elevation in the district at 3,000 ft above sea-level. The highest peak, Tadiandamol, rises to 1,750 metres (5,740 ft), with Pushpagiri, the second highest, at 1,715 metres (5,627 ft). The main river in Kodagu is the Kaveri. The Kaveri starts at Talakaveri, located on the eastern side of the Western Ghats, and with its tributaries, drains the greater part of Kodagu. In July and August, rainfall is intense, and there are often rain showers into November.

Coorg is home to many communities with diverse ethnic origins, with Kodavas being the main ethnic group. Other communities are Bhase, Gowda, Devanga, Beary Muslims (Byari), Malayali. There are also a number of tribes such as the Yeravas, Kurubas, Airies and Kudiyas, who are believed to be of tribal origin. Muslims from the Malabar coast, the Mappilas, have also been present as traders and entrepreneurs. There is a sizeable population of the Lingayaths and the majority of them are in the taluk of Somawarpet. There are also about 52 Lingayath Mutt's in the district which have taken up the social service like free education and boarding to those children from the vulnerable sections of the society.

Coorg is considered rich with wildlife and has three wildlife sanctuaries and one national park: Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, Talakaveri Wildlife Sanctuary, Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary and Nagarahole or Rajiv Gandhi National Park.

Tourist attractions:

Talakaveri: the place where the River Kaveri originates. The temple on the riverbanks here is dedicated to lord Brahma, and is one of only two temples dedicated to Brahma in India and Southeast Asia.
