Traditionally, camping is associated with those who hike or as it is also known, backpack camping. That is the traditional and it still gets plenty of members, but camping has been gaining in popularity as an alternative to staying in a hotel/motel during the summer vacation.

Camping World offers a world of possibilities when it comes to choosing what type of camping you want to do. The greatest trip consists of no cell phones, blogging, or any other connection except plugging yourself into the great outdoors network.

The types of camping have also branched out into many groups that combined their hobby into camping as well. For instance, motorcycle camping used to be nothing more than stopping for a night, roll out the sleeping bag, and take off the next morning. Today, motorcycle camping trailers have put a level of comfort that riders of old used to dream about.

The real explosion in types of camping come from the type of vehicle used to get you there in the first place. Smaller lightweight camping equipment has made packing for a camping trip to be done from a car just as easily as a camping van or truck.

The newer designs of camping trailers have also done their part with lightweight frames and newer materials. Now, an affordable family camping trip can still mean hauling a camping trailer big enough for the whole family, but possibly needing only a car instead of a truck to get you there.

Of course, the kings of the road are still those who own the larger travel trailers or the RV. The number of campgrounds that accomodate these larger vehicles has expanded rapidly in the past decade.

Camping doesn't have to be looked at strictly from the vehicle that gets you there. There are hundreds of sites that offer horseback camping trips, canoe or kayak camping, or even multiple day whitewater rafting trips. All of these are unique but all enjoy the great outdoors. If you want to push the limit, winter camping certainly hits that button. Of course, the ultimate for any individual camper will be survival camping.

The camping world that everyone can experience today is still proving to be the most affordable way to go as well.
