Can You Really Live In The City And Lead A Healthy Lifestyle?
For people who adore the bustling atmosphere of a major city
, there's often no bigger hope or aspiration than to live in a city such as London.
The capital of England, a major global financial and economic centre and one of the most visited cities in the world, London is fast, exciting, packed full of history and so multi-cultural that there are people from what seems like every single ethnicity living within the London boundaries.
Yet whilst so many people consider city living to be so fantastic, it has brought with it over the years the belief that if you live in the city, it's impossible to live any type of healthy lifestyle.
Having a hectic work schedule is often to blame for the most part, but with so much to see and do in London once you've finished work in the city, the many sights and attractions that London boasts are often blamed for the lack of a healthy lifestyle, too.
Just because you're living in a city that never seems to stop, however, does that mean that you can't live in a healthy life?
Living in London might mean that you have access to restaurants almost 24 hours a day and enough prepared, pre-packaged food at your disposal to help you save time, but just because all of this is available, do you really have to live unhealthily?
And for the most part, the answer is no.
What a lot of people fail to understand about London and life in a city is that whilst there are many businesses and services tailored to make your life flow as easy as possible, which includes the selling or pre-packaged food that takes just a few moments in a microwave to cook, there are just as many companies and organisations that promote healthy living.
In fact, when you take a step out of your unhealthy lifestyle bubble where everything seems to be aimed at keeping you unfit and making you gain weight, it's surprising at just how many businesses are actually doing their utmost to ensure that you live a healthy life.
Take gyms in London, particularly those in the centre of the city, as an example.
Open early morning in the morning to cater for those people who want to work out before the start work and remaining open well into the night to allow people to exercise after work has finished, unlike elsewhere around the country where gyms might only be open for 12 hours a day, gyms in London can appear to only be closed when you're asleep.
And then there are the places that sell fresh, pre-packaged food. What you have to remember is that just because food has been prepared elsewhere and put into packaging this doesn't mean that it has to be unhealthy.
Like with most things in life, though, it takes a little longer to look for the things that are better for you, as it's generally easier to produce the things that aren't that good for you.
Living in the city doesn't mean you have to be unhealthily, contrary to what most people might think and with just a little time dedicated to the cause, you can live just as healthy of a life in London as you can anywhere else in the UK.
