What that means is you drive or fly to Canada and meet at a designated spot where the lodge owner will have a bush pilot and his float plane fly you in to a lake that he owns a cabin on. This lake will have only one cabin on the entire lake. Yours for the week! You and your group will have the entire lake to yourselves. Total serenity, with peace and quiet. Talk about relaxing!

The cabin and setting will be rustic of course, but you are not there to lay by the pool and have cabana drinks served to you, you are there to fish. So make sure you have your equipment in top shape and extras of everything because you will not be able to run to the store in the wilderness.

There is a lot of planning that goes in to this kind of Canadian walleye fishing trip, but it is well worth it. You will catch a lot of fish. Some lakes only have walleye and northern pike and others can have small mouth bass and musky too. All of these fish can run very big. It is not uncommon to catch walleye in the 5 to 10 pound range and northern pike up to 35 pounds or so. We caught small mouth bass that weighed in at 5 pounds and a stringer of 3 to 4 pounders! While we were fishing a spot with small mouth bass, I tied in to a 16 pound northern pike. I was using light tackle and a small spinner bait with no steel leader! What a challenge that was to get him in the boat! Now he is on my wall.

There is nothing like catching all the fish you can eat in a day, fixing a genuine shore lunch with a campfire and then going out to fish some more. Then, when the sun goes down relaxing by the campfire and telling stories about the one that got away. Then get up in the morning and do it all over again.
