Cancun Tv
While many of us don't expect to be watching TV on vacation
, the inevitable fact is, after a busy day of Cancun sightseeing, a bit of TV can be a welcome diversion. No doubt most people think that TV watching is just for the people that stay home. However, curiosity about a bit of foreign television programming can get the better of us. Can we follow Spanish dialogue? Are there any familiar shows that we know, and what is actually 'on'?
So the television "on" button is pressed. Now that it's on, might as well see what the channels are like, right? The local news could be quite interesting. Perhaps there will be reports of a festival nearby or something similar. But which channel? Well right here we have a brief breakdown of the networks and stations that will appear on TV in the Yucatan region.
There are seven networks located in the state of Yucatan, and ten channels. Canal 5 broadcasts movies, children's cartoons and some dramatic series - but not novellas. Outside of Mexico, Azteca 7 is a major network that is well known, and it also has two affiliates in the Yucatan, channels seven and ten.. The Azteca 7 affiliates broadcast much the same programs as Canal 5, with the exception of children's cartoons. Instead they cover a lot of sports. Azteca Corporation also owns Azteca 13, another network that also has two affiliates in the Yucatan area. On channels four and eleven Azteca 13 broadcasts local and national news, sports and TV novellas.
Galavision has just one affiliate on channel two and is dedicated to sports coverage and old movies. Canal de las Estrellas has two affiliates on channels nine and eight. Retro movies, TV novellas, and sports coverage can all be found on these stations. While American soap operas go on without end, TV novellas, sharing much the same format, are limited in number. Canal 5 is another Mexican network with one affiliate on channel four. Once TV is an educational channel found at seven on the dial. Varied programming is available from one independent network that has no dedicated station.
Now don't feel guilty for switching the television on as you get ready for a day at the beach, or are settling down for the night. Viewing the programming the locals watch is a great way to get a glimpse of the culture of the area. It's also a fabulous way to get an accurate and up to date weather report.
