SatGuide navigation system was introduced by a Hyderabad based IT company, SatNav Technologies Ltd, in collaboration with Bangalore map data. This device is tagged as Indias first navigation system.
SatGuide is intelligently designed by a group of talented engineers to help people of Bangalore to navigate around the entire city with ease and comfort of knowing each and every road as well as destination. This helps car drivers to have better concentration on roads without getting bothered about losing their way to the desired destination.
This first navigation device is linked to 24 GPS satellites orbiting around the earth. Among these 24, three of the GPS satellite sends signals to the GPS receivers installed in the navigation device to ascertain the exact location of the car. In addition, the system also has an in-built comprehensive database of around 22 categories.
The car driver or the user of this in-car navigation system has just to use his finger to press the address of his destination in the SatGuide unit. The device will automatically display the best possible route to the specified destination and will also prompt the driver through voice commands on the directions.
MapmyIndia Navigation System
After the introduction of SatGuide, MapmyIndia, a premier navigable map data provider, launched an in-car GPS navigation system in India.
This navigation system is also linked to the satellites orbiting around the earth. It is further pre-loaded with comprehensive maps for the entire country. The best advantage of MapmyIndia over SatGuide is the pre-loaded map in the system. SatGuide is restricted to the map of Bangalore whereas MapmyIndia has maps for the whole of India.
The new device boasts of real time voice-guidance and turn-by-turn navigation for seamless travel across the country irrespective of the fact whether the drive is within the city or beyond the city boundaries. It also keeps the driver informed about every direction, actual distance left to the destination, estimated time for arrival, estimated time to next turn, and quick search to essential points along the way. The new car navigation system also has a function that saves the loaded destination for future applications.
TravelPoint Navigation System
Blaupunkt, part of Bosch, made a recent entry in the Indian car navigation market with its advanced car navigation system christened as TravelPoint.
This new series of portable gadget is available in three different models known as TravelPilot 100, TravelPilot Lucca 3.5, and TravelPilot 300. All these three systems provide route guidance based on a perfect combination of spoken and visual communications.
Blaupunkt has taken the entire route of Indian roads from MapmyIndia that provides customers with comprehensive navigation information across the country.
