Donating can be heart-warming and generous when it comes to those who just do not have anything to go off

. They do not have food, clothes or even a place to sleep. However, depending on what you are donating you just may not be helping at all.

When you think about donating, one motto should come to mind and that is Would I use it? If you were in another persons position and you were the one receiving things, what would you give yourself if you had the ability to choose anything? As the person donating, you do have the ability to choose therefore you must choose only what you would wear, want to sleep on or sit on and what you would eat.

As I said, donating is very warm-hearted and many people who do not have anything are just grateful that they are getting something. However, if it is in your option do not donate a couch full of holes. Some of the people who choose to donate find themselves barely better off financially then the people they are donating to. Others however, do have the extra money. If you do, fix the couch up, get it re-upholstered and then donate it. The family that gets your old couch would be so grateful for it.

Many families need dishes in their home and cannot afford them. When you are donating dishes, do not donate broken dishes. Most people do not want to throw away certain things when they can be donated but when it comes to broken things, would you use it? Probably not, since you are donating it. So instead throw them out because even the needy would like to have non-broken dishes to feed their children on.

If there are two things that needy families need, it is clothes and food. One a human being can live without, but food on the other hands a person cannot. When it comes to clothing, do not put holey clothes into your pile that you donating or something that is tearing into shreds because it has been worn too much. Instead, throw it out.

It is true that these families need clothes, but they need clothes that are going to keep them warm. Many needy families are thankful for anything that they do get but would it not feel better to know that their kids are getting the best you could give them?

Food is another thing that is seen donated a lot when it comes to charities and food banks. Some people however donate half-eaten food which is really not a lot of good for anyone because it has to be thrown away. It cannot be distributed out. Only donate non-perishable whole food such as canned meat or vegetables. Most of all car donations play a huge role in providing support to children nationwide. Yes, you can even donate frozen foods as long as you contact your local pantry and they allow it. But donating a car to charity will help provide support to 1,000s of children nationwide.

Donating can be a joy for both the person donating and the person receiving but it should be something worth donating. If it is not, then throw it away because if you wouldnt use it because it is torn apart and looks appalling then no one else should have to.
