For example colored filters can be used with LEDs to get colorful beams which make the flashing of the lights even more effective. Similarly, lenses can be used to alter the beam angle, sometimes making them narrow and focused and sometimes going for wide angle beams for better coverage. Reflectors can also be used with smaller LEDs to collect all the directional beams from LEDs and then throw the light in one direction for bright coverage. Thus, LEDs can save energy without really compromising on the quality of the light.

One of the most important reasons why LEDs should be used in a car emergency light is their versatility. They can be easily controlled with the help of an embedded chip. LED modules can be easily configured with dozens of 1W LEDs depending upon how much brightness is required. Multiple LED modules can be synced with each other, to flash in the same phase. Similarly, it is quite possible to get high rate of flashes with LEDs as well as individually control different LED modules. Lastly, the number of LEDs can be easily varied according to the requirements. The heat production is also low with LEDs.
